Before the holidays, I was invited to be part of a wonderful and worthwhile volunteer project – a food packing party. Our merry and industrious group enthusiastically filled 326 laundry bags with around 14,000 pounds of non-perishable food items – such as peanut butter, cereal, crackers and beef stew.

The bags, containing nearly 70 pounds of food each, were then delivered to 163 home-bound seniors in Elkins, Prairie Grove, Farmington, Lincoln, West Fork and Greenland – along with 53 cases of dog food and 17 cases of cat food for those with pets.

Since the holidays, a committee has been meeting weekly to organize one of the Chase Family Foundations big fundraising events – Chase the Blues Away – a Mardi Gras celebration.

This year, Chase the Blues Away will be held at the Fayetteville Town Center and promises to be one of the very best ever!!! There are seven amazing chefs preparing a Cajun Buffett, wine and beer will be provided, a zydeco player will welcome guests at the door, and music will also be provided by the Mojo Trio – and there will be a silent and live auction and a wine pull!!
