While driving up the Coromandel Peninsula for our beach holiday, we passed through many interesting and adorable little towns.

We stopped for meat pies in Paeroa. A place well known for the refreshing drink, Lemon and Paeroa.

The Cheese Barn in Matatoki was an interesting and delicious stop. They feature a range of organic cows milk products, a cafe with a lovely, light menu, and a gift shop, where our kids delighted in the chocolates (sheep droppings, which were chocolate covered peanuts and cow poo and flies, really coconut roughs and gummy flies).

Further along, in Whenuakite, we stopped at one of my favorite places, Colenso – cafe, shop and orchard – absolutely beautiful.
